Maple Crest Photo: Credits & Licences
The sitters are trees; the photographs, however, were taken by people, and very good ones. Every photograph on this site comes from Wikimedia Commons and is used under the licence shown below. Authorship and licence were checked against each file’s Commons record.
All photographs have been resized, re-compressed and stripped of embedded camera metadata for this site; some are shown cropped inside frames. No other alterations were made. The names, titles, dates, biographies and coats of arms attached to each tree are entirely invented and are not endorsed by the photographers.
Adaptations of works licensed under CC BY-SA are offered under the same licence as the original.

Arms, ornaments and type
Every coat of arms, the favicon, the family tree, the dividers and the falling leaves were drawn in code especially for this site; no existing arms were copied or adapted. Any resemblance to arms borne by a real family, town or institution is accidental. Text is set in the reader’s own system serif. The site loads no external fonts, scripts or trackers.
A note on the sitters
The trees depicted have not been consulted about their titles and are not, so far as we know, members of any peerage. Their real locations are recorded on the original file pages above.
